The ward here is AWESOME. They just got a new bishopric, and since this ward has 8 full time missionaries (4 elders and 4 sisters!) they made the former 1st counselor the Ward Mission Leader, and ALL of the former ward mission council become ward missionaries! All of the new auxillaries have also served missions, even the YW and RS presidents, so everyone is PUMPED about missionary work.
We already had 2 investigators at church on Sunday! Cheryl and Sidney. Sidney is 13, her dad is a recent convert and her mom was a less active until recently. Sidney is getting baptized on Saturday! She was supposed to get baptized last Saturday (the 31st) but postponed indefinitely. We were so sad. But then after fasting for all our investigators on Sunday, she texted us and said, "Let's do Saturday!" WE WERE SOOOOO EXCITED! She is so sweet, and her family has gotten so many blessing from the gospel. I can't wait until they get sealed as a family in the temple. The parents are still working their way through temple prep, so hopefully soon!
Cheryl is almost 60, but she had kind of a wild past and found God on her own through AA. She never went to one church though, because she didn't like hearing about "hellfire and damnation". Apparently my companion has been visiting her for 4 months but she hadn't been progressing. But she somehow agreed to come to church on Sunday and she LOVED it. She said it was like coming home. ALL of the testimonies were meant for her! And she even made a plug for missionary work in Relief Society on Sunday. She had a Book of Mormon from before, but wasn't really reading it. Now she asked us on Sunday, "If I read about 20 pages a day, would that be enough?" UM YES! We can hardly beg people to read a few verses on their own! And she texted us last night letting us know she was on track, on page 40! I love her. She always makes us cookies and has 2 friendly kitties. Lemonade definitely was giving her nudges, I can tell. :)
Yesterday was "Labor Day for the Lord and Families". President Harding wanted us to tract all day to find new families to teach. I love tracting. It's fun to meet so many people, and it's not really discouraging when they don't want to listen. It's actually kind of funny. I know, I must be twisted. Anyways: At first I was grumpy about not having a P day for 2 weeks, but it was worth it! Last week we found 3 new investigators, and one already fell through. But yesterday alone we found EIGHT new investigators, which is FOUR families! We were sooooo blessed. Miracles really do happen!
Oh right! My companion is awesome, her first name is Kacie, and she is from Mesa, Arizona. She has her cosmetology license, is about to turn 21, and was doing generals at BYU-I and working/saving for college when the age change happened. She's been out for 8 months and I'm her 7th companion. Crazy. She reminds me of Farrah, and Kim Hessing. Random combination, I know.
About the Fab 50- President says we are the most prepared group he has ever seen. 24 are visa waiters, 24 are here to stay. But that has been a blessing, because we have already found 2 Mandarin speaking families and we have Mandarin elders! Hopefully they get to use their language skills!
Anyways, that's all I can think of now. So tired. So mentally exhausted. But loving EVERY MINUTE of it.
Love You!
