Hello Family and Friends!
There are miracles happening in Georgia! The Lord truly is at the helm. I want to preface this letter by saying that none of this is as a result of my work alone. Without obedience, great companions/leaders, and the Spirit, the work of the Lord would not go forward.
First of all, KYLIE GOT BAPTIZED! This was such a beautiful baptism. She is 19, and was baptized by her husband, James, who was inactive before we started teaching both of them. She was confirmed by her father-in-law. They picked the most beautiful hymns, the Spirit of God and How Great Thou Art. Which was bad because I was leading the music, and I saw everyone tearing up, and being a sympathetic cryer, I was really grateful for waterproof mascara! The Spirit was so strong, and seeing Kylie look lovingly up into her husband's eyes as he baptized her was just so beautiful.
Secondly, miracle story time. Dana. She was a media referral- which means she hopped on mormon.org and asked for missionaries to visit her house. This doesn't happen a lot! But when we visited her, the Spirit was so insanely strong. She was an elementary school teacher before the Lord basically took her into His own hands, and started giving her songs for her to write and publish. She has two specials on PBS where they perform her music, and keep in mind, she has NO training as a songwriter. She tells us the Lord gives her these songs, and I believe her wholeheartedly. Since, she has become involved in music education reform groups and miracle after miracle led her to be the keynote speaker at a huge music education conference- get this- at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake. She says all of her friends at this reform organization are LDS, and she left her methodist church six months ago and has been searching ever since for answers. When I told her about the nature of the Godhead as part of the Joseph Smith story, I explained "Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings, but one in purpose." She literally slammed her hand on the table and said "That is the BEST way I have ever heard that explained. Did you know they teach all ministers at my old Methodist church that the Trinity is the "great mystery?" and I never understood it. What you said makes so much sense." Now, to have someone with her credentials give me that great of compliment, I was a little speechless! The rest of the lesson went so well, she had so many questions, and she has been so led to this point. I probably will be writing about how she is our latest baptism next week. She is incredible.
Another thing I just want to mention- and I hesitate to do this, because I know talking more about Satan gives him more power. However- I need to just say how real and influential he is on a mission. The things that he whispers to people- "you don't need to keep the commandments, by grace you are saved." Yes, everyone is "saved" by the Atonement, but what about eternal life? Don't you want to live in God's presence? You can't do that just by grace, that's why we have commandments. Why would He give us commandments if our works don't matter? And the other one that really bothers me- "You don't need a body after you die, this is temporal." Of course Satan will tell you that you don't need a body, because he doesn't have one! Our body and our spirit make up our soul. That's why we came to earth in the first place, and why there must be a resurrection for all- we cannot be a complete soul without our bodies. That's why its so important to love and respect our bodies on earth, and why Satan works so hard to get us to misuse our bodies. And who will win in the end? Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I will do everything I can to be on HIS team, what about you? Who's on the Lord's side who? As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
I love each and every one of you who can read my words. Thank you for taking the time each week to listen to my adventures. I hope that I am able to bring you a spiritual tidbit on your Mondays, and I want you to know the Lord is really watching out for us. Miracles really do happen, and they can happen to anyone. 2 Nephi 27:23. With faith, all things are possible.
Have a great week!!! Love you!
