I Love to See the Temple

The Provo Temple is currently closed for cleaning, but the grounds are still open which means that we can still visit and ponder for a while.

When I first arrived, I was upset that there were couples cuddling on the hill as well as people exercising on the grounds. Really people? Just because it's not open doesn't mean that it isn't sacred still.

Anyways, I walked around just to clear my head. I found a grassy hill where I could look at the temple and the mountains behind it. I laid down and started watching the clouds. I noticed that they were constantly in motion when compared to the temple and the mountains unshaking stance. But when you just look at the clouds they seem like they are never going to move.

I think that's how life is. The unimportant things move on and fade away. They are constantly in motion and they are fleeting. They seem to last forever in the moment, until eventually without even noticing it they disappear. Everything that is important will last- our families, our relationships, our moral character, and the gospel.

If a relationship doesn't last, it isn't important. It doesn't mean that it wasn't good or that it didnt help us improve or learn, but there is something else to come. We must be patient and know that the things that hurt us now will not last.

  1. I think it's interesting how you pointed out the activities at the temple grounds. Sometimes, I'd rather see people doing yoga (I consider it meditating) than some of the other stuff.

I like your insights, by the way.
