Happy New Year!

Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I know I did! We were so spoiled by our wonderful ward. Even Sister Kirkham, who arrived in Atlanta just 3 days before Christmas, was able to receive 3 Christmas stockings full of presents from wonderful members of our ward (and I got 3 stockings too hee hee). Sister Kirkham is my new companion who is waiting for her visa to serve her mission in Taiwan. I've been learning a lot of Chinese from her! She's from Lehi, UT and she was in the MTC for 3 months learning Mandarin. Poor thing about died from the food there. Hahaha

Because Sister Kirkham is trying to keep up her Mandarin, we made it a goal for her to speak in Chinese at every lesson we teach. On Christmas Day we were able to teach Vani and Sunil. Remember how we have had a hard time getting Sunil to pray? Well, we came up with a brilliant plan. Sister Kirkham would tell them that she would say the closing prayer in Chinese if Sunil would say the opening prayer. To which he agreed without putting up a fight! That was a first! And he said the most beautiful prayer about how he wants to know if the Book of Mormon is true, and if they should be baptized. I was so happy! Christmas Miracles!!!!

We also had a great lesson with Ilivea on Christmas Eve. We've noticed for a while that Ilivea's countenance has changed, and the spirit in her home just isn't as happy as it used to be. Because of some inspired questions, we were able to learn that she had had a bad experience attending another church, and she already struggles with social anxieties. Now every time she wants to attend church, she has to battle her own mind to get there. Poor thing! We are trying to work with her to get a priesthood blessing. But we were just so grateful that we took the time to stop by and discern what her needs are.

I'm so grateful for this new year! It's hard to believe I spent all of 2014 as a missionary for the Lord. But this has been the greatest experience and I wouldn't have chosen to spent this time doing anything else.

I love you all!

Sister Laser
