Well, it was a week full of surprises. I think the biggest one was when we didn't find out until last minute that we were going to be Sister Training leaders this transfer! So we are going to be very very busy!
So we have received boxes full of the He is the Gift passalong cards, and we have been doing everything we can to make sure we can show this video to everyone we meet. We actually were at the home of this less active part member family. They are a very cute old couple. The wife is the member, and she recently got into some anti-mormon material. But we were able to bring in the Spirit by showing her the He is the Gift video. She loved it so much that she wanted to share it on her Facebook right then... but being a cute little old Grandma she didn't know how. :) So I helped her get the video on her Facebook, and she is being a missionary! The husband really liked the video to, because it is such a great universal message at this time of year.
I reflected a lot this week about what I was doing 2 years ago at the holiday season. Despite having a salaried job, I was working weekends at the Home Depot, and I was pretty bitter to the commercialism of Christmas. All I wanted to was to be home and be with my family, and I was stuck at Home Depot because I had to make sure everyone else bought the best gifts for their family members. There were some cute moments where I got to help a mom and young boys pick out a drill for their dad, but most of the time I was just a disgruntled employee.
And then I reflect on last years Christmas. Yes I wanted to be home with my family still, but I was 100 times happier. I got to be with other great families, to feel truly loved and needed, and most importantly I was representing my Savior. He truly is the reason for the season. I am so eternally grateful for a Father who gave His Son as a gift to all of us, so that one day we also can return Home.
