Hi Family and Friends!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I know I did. I was so grateful for the thoughtful cards that I received from so many. I loved being able to celebrate Christmas by serving others. We got to visit members in our congregation, and we had a wonderful time. There were many laughs. I even got to play with Barbies at one house! I always like playing with Barbies, especially with adorable 4 & 3 year old girls! :) But the best part was getting to talk to my family. It was so great to share recent experiences and share how much I've grown. I only cried a little bit. :)
But one of the coolest experiences happened this week. Basically, I learned this week that Satan is a big jerk. And he LOVES to get in the way! So we had a lesson planned this week with a girl who requested to have the missionary lessons (like who does that?) and that morning I was getting ready to exercise and do about 1,000 jumping jacks to combat the holiday food I've been packing on. I bent over to pick up something off the floor and threw out my back. Like I couldn't walk it was so painful! But I tried my hardest to take it easy so that we could still go to this lesson.
So we go to the member's house that we are having the lesson at, and just as we started our lesson with Jessica, her 3 year old son starts choking on a peppermint. He literally had to have the Heimlich! It was very scary! But he was fine, it was just very distracting because it completely threw all of us off!
But Jessica. Oh my word. She is so prepared. She was entranced when we told her about Joseph Smith's vision. I asked her how she felt after hearing that, and she said "it's very moving." I asked "Do you think there could be prophets on the earth today?" And she said "ABSOLUTELY!" She has accepted a date to be baptized, and that was our first time meeting her! It was amazing, the Spirit was so strong. She needs this gospel so bad, she needs that peace in her life. And Satan clearly did NOT want her to have that.
I hope you all have a very Happy New Year! And I hope that as you reflect on the year, you will be filled with a renewed sense of hope for the future. We know that if we are prepared, we shall not fear, and that is how we should look forward to this new year.
I love you all so much!
