This week we learned from Elder Kopischke of the Seventy. He is originally from Germany, and is an amazing teacher. I had to opportunity to be sitting in the front row while he trained my zone, so I got to participate a lot and I got called on a lot.
I want to share one thing he taught us, followed by an experience. He taught us something he called "the cycle." It's based off of Alma 32: 27-28. This is how we can receive personal revelation and miracles in our lives. Basically, faith is a principle of action and power. We are responsible for completing the required actions, God is responsible for providing the power. So when we show a desire, show our patience, and not give up, God promises that we will have answers swell within us, enlighten us, and show us and increase of faith. He demonstrated this in a phrase we have all heard before, "the faith to move mountains". Neither Elder Kopischke or I have ever moved a mountain with our faith! But if we have the faith to move a mountain, we would pick up a shovel and an axe, and literally start moving the mountain. That is a great show of faith!
Saturday, we didn't plan on walking "the cycle", but we did. Saturday was pretty terrible. We were having a hard time just finding people to talk to, letting alone finding people who would listen! Plus we had brought Nicole with us, so we were particularly frustrated. It had been 2+ hours and we hadn't had any success. Even the people who were ALWAYS home had magically disappeared! Then our district leader called us and we told him of our crummy day. He told us how we were walking the cycle, and how we would be blessed with a miracle with Nicole. Literally the next door we knocked on, we were let inside!
We found this amazing family, a mom and her two daughters. We told them our message, and they were so warm, genuine, and humble. They had just moved in and were looking for a church! So we invited them to come to church with us, and THEN THEY CAME TO CHURCH THE NEXT DAY. Um, that NEVER happens. And the mom making the most profound comments in church. I wish I could adequately express how amazing they are. But we are teaching them again tonight and I am so excited.
So, I have faith in the "cycle". I know that when we do our part, the Lord will provide a miracle!
I LOVE YOU ALL! Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!!!!
