As you might have heard... Georgia got a little snow this week. :) And Georgia doesn't handle snow very well. And the snow quickly turns to ice. And no one here has heard of rock salt or snow plows. Or even car scrapers! So basically, we had 3 snow days.
Day 1: Tuesday
We went to District Meeting, normal day, and as we left the snow started falling gently. We didn't think much of it, went home, had lunch, and the snow started sticking. Well... we decided that while WE know how to drive in snow... Georgians don't! So we decided to stay home. We made about 60 calls (and actually got two new investigators!) and then we were very bored.
So Sister Carlson pulls out a old fashioned glider sled, and we go SLEDDING!!! Never thought I would say I went sledding in Georgia. And I wore my Georgia hoodie to prove it! And then we made snow angels and played on the tire swing. I felt like I was about 7 years old again. And when we went inside Sister Carlson had hot homemade potato soup waiting. Yum. Seriously, living with members is THE BEST EVER.
Day 2: Wednesday
Now, its not so fun anymore. We woke up to a car upside down in the ditch in front of our house! Yikes! And Georgia is in a state of emergency... wow!
So, we once again make about 60 calls. We teach lessons over the phone and share scriptures. And then we are about ready to throw the phone out the window. So sick of calling people! So we went tracting to the closest neighborhood in the Snow! Hoofed it the whole way there! It was the first time I could say I went tracting in jeans! (Well, we wore skirts over the top of our jeans. And we weren't prepared enough to have thermals! So Jeans it is) and we didn't have much success. But we saw lots of fun animal tracts- like bunny tracks! And fox tracks! And wolf tracks!!! Yeah...
Day 3: Thursday (last snow day HURRAH)
We did not want to make any more calls. All we wanted to do was DRIVE. And we still couldn't drive! So frustrating.
But, that day was special. Because we were fasting with Diane to help her stop smoking. And we had it arranged that we would have dinner with a member, Grandpa Morris, so that we could all break our fast together. Grandpa picked Diane up and then us, and then we went to his house where we had a FEAST. He bought us a $95 RIB ROAST. Holy cow! It was such an amazing meal, and Diane was so amazed at his kindness. She couldn't hardly believe she was being treated so well.
And then we taught her about the atonement. She says she knows the Lord is sanctifying her right now. And Helaman 3:35 popped into my head. It starts out "and they did fast and pray oft"... wow. How perfect? And it ends "which sanctification comes from their yielding their hearts unto God." The verse is basically a step by step process to sanctification. We made her cry.
And then that was the end of the snow days. We got to drive again starting Friday. Yay. :)
I LOVE YOU ALL! Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Sister Laser
