Book of Mormon Miracles

Hi Family and Friends!

Well, transfers are on Wednesday, and I'm staying in Sharpsburg but I'm getting a new companion. I'm so excited I get to stay!

Goodness, it was an amazing week. First of all, for the first time in a very long time, we had an investigator come to church! Diane came yesterday, and I was so happy! It is so hard to get people to church for some reason. Probably because Satan really doesn't like it when people go to church, so he throws up every possible roadblock he can.

I had been praying so hard that Diane would come to church, and that what was spoken on would be what she needed to hear. And I kid you not, we had 3 hours devoted to the Plan of Salvation. When I heard that was the topic, I was so relieved. I knew that was what Diane needed. She needs the big picture of where we come from, why we are here, and why what we do here matters. She said she felt the Spirit. The members were definitely inspired- the 1st counselor in the Stake Presidency pretty much focused his whole talk for her benefit: in very simple terms, and focusing on the importance of what we do here. And after the meetings were over, I asked Diane is she had questions and she said, "I guess I have some questions about the pre mortal life" when a member of another ward who came today turned around, and said to her, "I love that part, because we learn we are literally children of God. We are royalty! You are of divine worth." She has no idea how inspired that comment was, because that was exactly was Diane's concern had been- just her own self worth. That whole Sunday was a miracle.

Also... some very exciting news from Fayetteville. Angelita is getting baptized! We taught her for the first time on my second day in Georgia. I actually gave her the copy of the Book of Mormon that we used when taking the pictures for my blog cover. I had written a special message in the front, and I knew that whoever got that Book of Mormon would be really special. I'm so happy for her!

Basically, this week a lot of my prayers were answered. I had been feeling like I wasn't making much of a difference on my mission. I had been promised that I would affect the lives of many, many non members of the church, and I just didn't feel like I was seeing that. This week my eyes were opened. Angelita is getting baptized, Diane came to church. People have been responding to us that never responded before, saying how much they needed the scripture we randomly sent them.

And I want to tell one last story. We have been reading the Book of Mormon with a lady named Dorothy, because we discovered that she had never read the Book of Mormon after 13 years of being a member! We started right before Christmas, and she was reading really slowly, and we'd have to summarize what just happened after every few verses. This past Wednesday was a complete 180 change. She was in Jacob, so we decided to read Jacob 5 together because the olive tree allegory can be tricky. She was reading so much better! It was like she went from reading at a 10th grade level now to a college level! And she understood the allegory really well and asked lots of deep questions. It was AMAZING. She was so grateful that we encouraged her to read, and basically accredited her success to us. But really- that's just what a daily study of the scriptures can do. If you are in it every day, its not so foreign when you pick it up again!

And you want to know the craziest thing? I'm hitting my 6 month mark on Friday. WOW. Where did the time go? I only have a year left?!? Craziness!

I love you all so much. Happy Valentines Day. Don't forget how much your Heavenly Father and your Savior love you. You are so special in Their eyes. Never let Satan let you think otherwise, because YOU are royalty. You are a child of God. :)

Have a great week!
