Hello my fellow Missionaries! :)
(climbing onto soapbox)
I am so inspired by General Conference this weekend, that I want to teach a lesson on how you can feel the push to come closer to Christ in your own life, and how you can share the gospel and be the best missionary, and how you can lift where you stand.
If you didn't watch Saturday sessions of Conference, go do so. It was such an inspiration to me. As some of you know, I am 22 years old, which is a little older than the age sisters can go- at 19. However- I heard an inspiring quote this week- the Lord is NEVER late. I know that I have been prepared and saved to be a missionary during this exciting push for missionary work. I am so grateful that I have an opportunity to be in the thick of it all.
If you want to follow Christ and also follow his Prophet, make it the number one priority in your life. Its kind of like the rocks analogy, you put the biggest rocks in first and everything else will fit. (Gosh, that made sense in my head- I hope it makes sense in yours!) If you put the Lord first in everything you do, I promise it will no longer be a sacrifice and you will feel Him directing your life and blessing you for it. Who doesn't need more blessings?
Once Christ is the number one priority, learn everything you can about not only his gospel (faith, repentence, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end) and the Atonement. Suggested reading to do this: 2 Nephi 31 (Nephi in his last days writes what is most important to his children- the gospel of Jesus Christ), 3 Nephi 11 and 27 (the first AND last things Christ teaches in the Americas is His gospel. Hmmm... must be important?) and Alma 7: 11-15. If you understand these things, you will want to share them with everyone you meet. How great is the news of the gospel of Jesus Christ? EVERYONE can have eternal life- the greatest of all the gifts of God (D&C 14:7) and the way is the same for all. We all must have faith, faith leads to action, and that action is changing to become better people, the people Christ already sees us as. Once we are baptized by the proper authority of God, we receive the 3rd member of the Godhead, the Holy Ghost, as a constant companion, if we endure to the end. The Holy Ghost will direct us in this life- warn us of danger, testify of truth, give us comfort, and guide us in our path. I know I LOVE having a member of the godhead to help me make decisions, because I am so indecisive.
Once you are truly converted to the Savior and desire all to have his glorious Atonement and eternal life, it's easy! You simply have to open your mouth. Pray for experiences to share the gospel, and the Lord will give you them. Have confidence that the Spirit will tell you what to say. It is selfish to keep this message to ourselves. An example of how to open your mouth is when people ask you about your weekend, tell them about Church too! So easy! Talk to everyone- talk to cash register ladies, the man at the car shop, the lady at JCPenney, and be friendly with everyone. They will see your light and want to know what makes you so happy.
These promises I leave with you, that doing these things will make you the absolute happiest you have EVER been. And as a missionary, I can promise blessings because the Lord will not make me a liar since I am His representative.
So go forth with power to share His word- pray for opportunities, learn His gospel, and live worthy of the Spirit. And I promise miracles will follow. Alma 37: 40-41 "miracles were wrought by the power of God, day by day... because those miracles were worked by small means it did show forth marvelous works."
I love you all, and I can't wait to hear of the success you have!
Lots of love and continuing faith in miracles,
Sister Laser
