My parents are in San Ann!!!!!
The first they they noticed was that I say words funny. Thanks Mom. Why is the girl from hillbilly Coalville making fun of MY accent? I can't say "y'all" but you can call it a Perry knife (instead of paring knife)? Sheesh!
Next they noticed I lost weight. YES!!! (BTW, this is a great achievement. San Antonio is in fact one of the fattest cities in the country. Everything is big in Texas... even the people, I guess!)
Anyway... we have a whole week to spend together, and even though I was working the first three days they were here we still managed to do a lot. I was their personal tour guide through the Alamo and I took them on the Riverwalk. Then the trolley tour my store is partnered with sent them on a tour for free and they went to the most famous Mexican restaurant here, Mi Tierra. (Its Bill Clinton's favorite!)
But so far I really have been taking them to the restaurants I've been eyeing but can't afford. On the list is La Focaccia (the Italian place I went to on my birthday, which feels like an Italian mob home), CiCi's pizza (delicious cheap all you can eat buffet!), Rudy's (the best BBQ in Texas! At a gas station!), Chuy's (a great Mexican place my coworker Caroline keeps telling me about) and Fogo de Chao (Brazilian steakhouse).
I've already taken them to Einstein's bagels which has quickly become my new favorite place. Its just a half-block jaunt from work and I've been known to spend most of my breaks there. All the workers know me from when I come to fill my water bottle (if you buy a water bottle there they will refill it forever, which is great because I don't have drinking water at work). They've grown so accustomed to me that they just reach for my water bottle and hand me a free chocolate chip cookie! Although once one of the workers thought he'd be flirtatious and he brought me a fruit cup, which is hilarious because I hate fruit. I felt obligated to eat it though! So I had a couple bites of strawberry and some honeydew, then tucked it in my purse. That was as much as I could handle!
Tomorrow we are going to Sea World and then we are going to Six Flags Fiesta Texas the next day! I can hardly wait, I love roller coasters!
I seriously love my family. I had no idea how much I missed them until they were here.
