SQUIRRELS

Hi Everyone!

So, it's been quite the week. They sent me back to FAYETTEVILLE! Well, technically I'm in the Whitewater ward, which covers parts of Peachtree City, Fayetteville and Senoia. So I'm sandwiched in between both my first and second areas, and I've already seen so many familiar faces! And next week is Stake Conference so I'll be able to see DIANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

My new companion is Sister Stock, she is 20 and from Pasco, Washington (which is ironically where I did many choir trips!). She has been out for 3 months, so she's still pretty green. I'll break her out of that soon. We have been laughing a lot, so we are getting along great.

Yesterday we were visiting a lady in a trailer park, and she has a squirrel that she has been feeding peanuts to. Its almost like a domesticated squirrel! So both Sister Stock and I fed the squirrel peanuts and took pictures. It was almost freaky if it wasn't cool! Did you know that they have SHARP claws? Gees! So, you know you are a redneck when you have a pet squirrel. (Also, Mom please know that the squirrel did not bite me and I do not have rabies and I used lots of hand sanitizer afterwards.)

I've been wondering a lot why I have have been sent back here. But the answer came on Thursday night. We went to go see the Relief Society president, and I realized I had met her exactly a year ago when I did my first exchange in the Whitewater ward. We had taught a young lady named Autumn in their home, and they were preparing to be baptized. So I asked about her, and they mentioned that she lived down the street but they hadn't seen her in a while. So we went and saw her and she told us how her family was very unsupportive of the Mormon church, and missionaries hadn't been by in a while. She said, "I've just been waiting and hoping that someone would remember me." The Spirit was so strong and I said, "I remember you, and the Lord remembers you." We set up another appointment for Sunday night with the Relief Society President. She's very hard to get a hold of because she doesn't have a phone, and her parents will act like she isn't home when she is.

Fast forward to Sunday night, Autumn had had a hard day and when we saw her she was crying. So we taught her about the Atonement and how the Savior really knows how we feel. She talked about how Heavenly Father is like the dad she never had, and He will never walk out on her. What's more amazing is that she told us she had read the entire Book of Mormon, and refers to it often when she has a bad day. She knows that Joseph Smith is a prophet and she wants to be baptized. And she should be able to move out of her parent's house so that she can make her own decisions by the end of this month. Autumn has gone through so much in this past year, and my heart just breaks for her. I'm so glad that I was the one that "remembered her."

(Also, guess who else lives in this ward? Ken from the Waffle House that I met the day before Valentines day! I'm planning on seeing him soon!)

Heavenly Father will never forget us, and He has the PERFECT plan for us. I know that He hears and answers prayers.
