A Glimpse of Heaven

Hi Everyone!

This weekend we had Stake Conference. (Quick side note that I have now attended 4 stake conferences is this stake since the beginning of my mission. Pretty sure everyone is sick of me!) It was an incredible stake conference. The speakers were really inspired and we had a children's choir sing. It was kind of odd that we met at a local performing arts center instead of a church building. They are currently building a new stake center in Sharpsburg, so in the mean time we don't have a building large enough to hold our whole stake. The working here is booming so much that we are running out of church buildings! Tee hee. :)

But I really did get a glimpse of heaven this weekend because I got to see many familiar faces from my first two areas (the first half of my mission). It was great to see how everyone has grown and changed, to have a joyful reunion and to give many hugs. But of course, the best part was seeing Diane. She just GLOWS with the spirit. I'm so happy that she's still going strong in the church, despite continual hardships. It was such a happy reunion, and it just made my week!

Isn't that what heaven will be like? Seeing how far everyone has come, how we have grown and changed and become new creatures? Lots and lots of hugs? It just gave me a new purpose to my missionary work, realizing that the people I teach I want to see again in heaven someday. This is why we do what we do, so that we can have a huge, happy, joyous, tearful reunion in the celestial kingdom one day.

Another great experience was that we had a lady name Eydie come with us to Stake Conference Sunday morning. She even drove with us and a member family. She's very spiritual and has a great relationship with God, but has never been baptized and doesn't currently go to a church. As we were sitting waiting for conference to start, she was talking about how she wants to write a book (she is very into physiology and the human body) because she feels that God has inspired her with this knowledge. I was able to testify of the gift of the Holy Ghost, and how that would help her so much with writing her book after she was baptized. She said something to me that meant a lot- "I feel the Spirit with the other sisters, but especially with you. The things you say really resonate with me and they make a lot of sense." I was able to, again, testify of the Spirit and tell her that's why it resonates, because the Spirit was carrying it to her. She didn't agree to be baptized, but she promised to think about it. I think she has a LOT of potential.

I love you all so much! Have a wonderful week!
