My Image

I've been staring at a blank page for at least two weeks because I can't figure out what to update my blog with. And I couldn't figure out why I was drawing such a mental blank until I was in the shower two minutes ago.

It's because I care way too much about what y'all think of me.

I'm sure we are all trying to keep up some sort of image and reputation. We want to be likable and appear to be easy to get along with. I guess part of the "image" I want to portray is to pretend that I don't care what y'all think of me. But I do... a lot. More than I should.

But I didn't figure that out until I watched in horror when my friends from different circles would hang out together. Like when my twin who lives in Rexburg and my roommate who is from Oregon decided to go shopping without me while I was... for lack of better words... trapped. I immediately squirmed with what stories they were going to share about me and if they were going to laugh about how [blank] I am. What was even WORSE was watching these 3 guys have a discussion during church: my ex-boyfriend, a former potential boyfriend, and a guy who is currently obsessed with me even though he has no idea what I am really all about. I just about peed my pants when I saw those three talking.

I guess my advertising class is opening my eyes to how I view myself. In today's society where strong religious convictions hardly exist, many people start to worship brands. Think about it... I personally wear American Eagle jeans, wear only Mary Kay makeup, use only Apple products and find some of my favorite clothes at Express. What brands do you associate yourself with, and is that who you TRULY are?

So here is who I am: my unashamed biography.

• I am an only child and I love my parents. 
• My favorite colors are purple, pink and yellow. 
• I love country music. 
• I love classic movies and I adore Audrey Hepburn. 
• I love sparkles. 
• I love my cat Lemonade and I am most definitely a cat person. 
• I'd rather talk on the phone than text or email, or even see you in person. I guess it's because I enjoy multitasking. 
• I'm currently addicted to Dr. Pepper. I'm trying to kick that habit soon.
• I love being blonde, but I think I am more of a brunette at heart and will probably be brunette most of my life. 
• I love my new short hair. 
• The things I buy too much of when I'm shopping are earrings, boots and shirts. 
• If I could I would only eat carbs and dairy. 
• As of right now, I love being single. I love going on dates, meeting lots of people, and discovering myself. I don't want to get married for at least another year. I will keep a look out for Mr. Right, but he's taking his sweet time and I'm not going to sit around and wait. I'm going to play. 
• I am usually a happy person, but everyone is allowed to have crappy days occasionally. And I have my fair share. 
• I try to pretend not to sweat the little things. But it takes so much effort for me to actually put little issues under the rug. 
• I love the gospel, but I definitely enjoy finding my own definition of things inside the church. 

So go ahead, judge me. This is my "I don't care what you think" face. And it feels really good. :)
